A Newsagents Association was originally formed in Queensland in 1906 with a membership of 18. Today, the Federation continues to represent and provide a valuable service to Queensland newsagents with membership representing over 65% of the total number of newsagents.

BE PREPARED: LEASING ADVICE

Negotiating a new lease can often be daunting. Even if you are an experienced retailer, a lease is not something you negotiate everyday, in fact more often than not the process only takes place every five years. The lessor on the other hand has either an agent or an employee (often a leasing executive) who is a very experienced negotiator, particularly if they work for a large national landlord. Our land of flooding rains


It seems incredible that in little more than a week Queensland experienced a tropical cyclone – Oswald – that hit only a few isolated communities in the Gulf of Carpentaria, but then became a rain depression that wreaked havoc and brought Dorothea MacKellar’s famed flooding rains throughout the length and breadth of Queensland.

As it moved south newsagents in far north Queensland suddenly had their wet season cutting roads and stranding travellers as well as disrupting supplies of magazines and newspapers.

Saying No To Plastic Bags During Bag Free February

Queensland Conservation Council’s Plastic Bag Free Queensland campaign invites members of the public to take part in BAG FREE FEBRUARY.

 

During the month of February, shoppers are asked to swear off single-use plastic bags and see how easy it is to live plastic bag free. They will be encouraged to take their own reusable bags shopping, and to ask retailers to provide alternatives such as compostable plastic bags, re-useable bags, or to re-use boxes if possible.
